For Medicare Recipients

Medicare will cover most of the cost of an annual dilated eye examination if you are …

  • Diabetic
  • Have a family history of glaucoma
  • African-American age 50 and older
  • Hispanic-American age 65 and older

These groups are at higher risk of developing glaucoma. For more information about Medicare eye examination coverage, click here.

Coverage for Medical Eye Care Services

If you are diagnosed and being treated for a medical eye condition, Medicare or your health insurance (different from vision insurance) will often be used to cover the medical portion of your eye visit.
